Heat and training...

Well....there only is one more triathlon race to go in my 2010 schedule.  The Rev3 Cedar Point 70.3 is right around the corner and I am looking forward to it! I'll finally get to meet a lot of my Trakkers teammates and I will get to ride a lot of roller coasters as well.

The training is going ok except for the stifling heat.  I don't think the highs have been below 90 degrees here in something like 3 months.  This week, they are calling for triple digits for 4 of the 7 days.  Thank goodness for my EFS drink to keep me hydrated. This makes running difficult, but it still has to be done, so I have been running a lot at night. Other than the hot weather and training, there hasn't been a lot going on lately.  I am already looking ahead to my race schedule next year and the return of the 140.6 distance will highlight it. Some locations in consideration are Knoxville, Costa Rica and Louisville.

I also am looking at finding a coach for next year. My run has been absolutely dreadful this year and I would really like to get a handle on that for next season. I believe this is the main limiter in improving my times significantly.  Any of you guys use coaches and have any suggestions on what to consider when hiring one?

Off to do a run!  Stay cool and hydrated out there (EFS helps www.firstendurance.com)!

  1. When hiring a coach, I think it's REALLY important that your general philosophies match up for the most part. Also you need to find someone that can help you set realistic goals for your commitment and ability. Finally, I recommend that you find someone you can TRUST. Bottom line, you have to trust and commit to your plan to be successful. You can't spend your time or energy second-guessing. Best of luck!
